How DrumFade removes drums on your phone

No cloud, no upload. Here is what actually happens when you tap Remove drums.

The model runs on the device

DrumFade carries an 84 MB AI source separation model, downloaded once when you set the app up. When you pick a song, the app decodes it, feeds it through the model on your phone's own processor, and writes two files: the song without drums, and the drums alone.

Why it takes minutes, not seconds

Cloud services run your song on a rack of servers. DrumFade runs it on the chip in your pocket, so a typical song takes 20 to 30 minutes. The trade is worth naming honestly: they charge a subscription and hold your audio; DrumFade is free and your audio never leaves the phone. Start a song, practice something else, come back to a finished track.

Each song is processed once

Results are cached. Reopening a processed song is instant, and the fader mixes drums in and out live while you play.

What you get out

Lossless WAV or M4A exports of the drumless track and the drums-only track. Use them in any player, DAW or practice app, including a DrumLock routine.
